Every Reason To Drive Electric: The Bolt EV

From a beautifully sculpted exterior to its impressive performance, spacious interior and advanced technologies, the Bolt EV has completely reinvented what an electric vehicle can be. Want proof? Bolt EV was named Motor Trend’s 2017 Car of the Year.

Instead of losing energy when slowing down, One-Pedal Driving helps you transfer energy to the battery. When driving in Low Mode at any speed, you can slow down or even come to a complete stop by simply lifting your foot off the accelerator. This means you may use your brakes less and help increase your range. One-Pedal Driving and deceleration features may be limited when the battery is near full charge or cold. You should always use your brake pedal if you need to stop quickly.

Electronic Precision Shift allows the driver to easily select gears while providing a smooth and precise response. The great thing about Bolt EV is you can top off your battery as much or as little as you like. Or you can simply plug in at night and by the morning it’s charged up and ready to go. Charge right at home with AeroVironment’s Level 2, 32amp EVSE-RS with a 25ft cord. This Chevrolet accessory allows you to reliably charge your Bolt EV up to five times faster than with traditional cord sets and is easy to use, elegantly designed and rated for indoor or outdoor installation. Driving the 2017 Bolt EV is a breeze!

5 Tips For Surviving Potholes

Springtime is here and summer is near. For many of you, it means spring break road trips and summertime adventures, but what does it mean for your vehicle? Cold weather leaves behind pothole-filled roads that can damage your vehicle and cost you money. Take a look at a few tips and tricks to help save you both time and money.

  1. Look Ahead and Slow Down – Pothole season can do damage, but being alert can help you avoid potholes. Look ahead and scan for potential potholes and avoid them when you can safely do so. If you cannot avoid them, slow down. Hitting a pothole at a higher speed increases the likelihood of damage to your vehicle.

  1. Know What to Look For – Potholes can cause more than just tire damage. Damage can also be done to tire rims, exhaust systems, alignment, and more. If you hear your car making noises, feel it pulling in one direction or think it’s operating irregularly, be sure to take it to a professional to be assessed.

  1. Watch Out for Water – Hiding beneath puddles can be even deeper potholes. After rain, it’s best to avoid puddles that pose a risk to more damaging potholes.

  1. Check your tire pressure – Properly inflating your tires can make a significant difference in avoiding damage caused by potholes. Maintaining the manufacturer’s recommended tire pressure is key. If your tires are underinflated, a pothole can cause a rupture. Overinflated tires are also more susceptible to damage from a pothole.

  1. Be Prepared – Make sure there’s a car jack and a lug wrench in your vehicle and that the spare tire is inflated to its proper pressure in case you need to change a flat.

Stay safe and prepared all year round with Chevrolet.

An Overlook Of The Corvette Grand Sport

The 2017 Corvette Grand Sport roars with performance and will remain as an icon in today’s market and for years to come. The Grand Sport is the latest member of the Corvette lineup and carries on the racing spirit of the original 1963 model.  By combining the power of the legendary LT1 6.2L engine with a lightweight, race-bred chassis and aerodynamics package, Chevrolet is able to provide incredible grip and handling for the 2017 model. The crafted and beautifully mastered engine is capable of 460 horsepower and 465 lb.ft. of torque. A dry-sump oil system delivers oil flow through the most extreme cornering, helping the Grand Sport deliver a consistently high level of performance.

In the Grand Sport, there is a mode for every road. With the turn of a dial, everything can change. Five distinct driver modes calibrate up to 12 performance variables to customize the Corvette for any terrain.

Lightweight architecture and Z06-style rear spoiler help reduce lift, while large, available carbon fiber rocker panels and rear spoiler further reduce weight and contribute to overall aerodynamics. An available Carbon Fiber Ground Effects Package takes this vehicle a setup over the top for the ultimate in design performance. What more could you ask for when purchasing a Corvette?

5 Ways To Keep Your Car Cool In The Squelching Summer Heat

Summers in the South are hot, and highs are regularly in the 90s. After just an hour and a half in the sun, the temperature of a car is, on average, 48 degrees hotter than the outside temperature. So, on a 95-degree day, your car will be 143 degrees. How can you prevent your car’s interior from being so sweltering? Take a look at these tips to keep your car cool and to prevent your air conditioning from working overtime when you do step inside your summertime vehicle.

  1. Consider a windshield shade. A reflective protector for your front windshield can keep your car nearly 40-degrees cooler, according to AutoAnything.com. Since central North Carolina has an extended summer season and hot temperatures most months of the year, you may want to invest in a custom windshield shade, crafted to fit your Impala, Volt, Equinox, or Colorado.
  2. Follow the Sun’s Position. If you do have a windshield shade, it’s best to park facing the sun so that the shade can reflect the majority of the rays. If you don’t have a shade, park with the sun at your car’s bumper to avoid the steering wheel and driver’s seat from becoming so hot. Moving your car throughout the day to avoid direct sunlight can also help to keep the interior cool.
  3. Opt for Shade. In any parking situation, it’s best to opt for a shady spot, even if you have to walk farther to reach your destination.
  4. Crack the Windows. A car sitting in the sun essentially becomes a greenhouse, trapping heat inside the small cab. Cracking windows can prevent heat from building up by allowing some hot air to escape.
  5. Upgrade to ventilated seats. Many cars and trucks, like the Silverado, come equipped with ventilated seats to keep drivers and passengers from sustaining burns on hot leather.

These simple steps can keep your car cooler and your daily commute much more comfortable. When you do hop into a hot vehicle, roll the windows down and turn on the lower AC vents (at your feet) to drive heat up and out of the car for a quick cool down. Or, opt for remote start and get the AC going before you even approach the vehicle.

Chevrolet Takes The Next Step In Lowering Fuel Costs

Chevrolet recently announced that they are partnering with Power Solutions International, Inc. to introduce heavy-duty pickups and full-size vans powered by 6.0-liter V-8 compressed natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas capable engines starting in the first quarter of 2017. “Expanding choice is the key to helping more commercial and government fleets reduce their fuel consumption, fuel costs and emissions using alternative fuels and EVs versus using traditional gasoline,” said Ed Peper, U.S. Vice President of GM Fleet. This month, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration announced 55 routes that will serve as the basis for a national network of “alternative fuel” spanning 35 states. Though the network is already nearly 85,000 miles long, more miles will be added in the future to accommodate electric, hydrogen, propane and natural gas vehicles as additional fueling and charging stations are built. We are extremely proud of Chevrolet for taking the next step in introducing natural gas and lowering fuel costs!
